The Accounting Assistant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, is responsible for providing accounting supports to Epic Opportunities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Financial: Daily data entry, journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Invoicing, entering pre-authorized payments, prepare and make bank deposits, reconcile petty cash accounts. Reconcile employee and client advance accounts on a monthly basis. Meet monthly deadlines for reporting requirements. Managing financial files and ensuring accountability of financial records for audit purposes. Manage bank transactions/reconciliations. Provide information and feedback to management as required. Work with the Controller/Accountant to provide necessary documents/documentation to auditors.
2.Administration: Monitor effectiveness of internal procedures. Maintains and stores financial files, ensuring integrity of financial records. Ensure charitable receipts are completed in accordance with Epic Opportunities policies and Federal/Provincial requirements.
3.Other: During the Accounting Managers absence, this position may be assigned additional accounting duties.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
-Second level CGA or CMA program completed and enrolled in a recognized accounting program.
-Minimum 2 year's experience in an accounting capacity, preferably in a non-profit environment.
-Combination of related education and experience may be considered.
-Excellent working knowledge of the following programs; QuickBooks Professional, Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook

-Must provide a Criminal record check with VSS, Child Abuse registry and an Adult Abuse check at hire (at the applicants own expense)
-A valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle is required
